Today, we’re honored to share that Focal Systems has been named In-Store Technology of the Year at the Retail Systems Awards 2026, one of the most respected recognition programs in UK retail technology.
The Retail Systems Awards celebrate the companies and teams driving genuine innovation across the industry, and this year’s In-Store Technology of the Year shortlist was a strong one.
For us, this award reflects something we’ve believed from the start: that the biggest opportunity in retail isn’t just knowing what’s happening on your shelves, it’s acting on it intelligently. Insight without action doesn’t restock a shelf, recover a lost sale, or put a product in a customer’s basket. That’s why we’ve built technology that doesn’t just tell retailers what’s wrong, but closes the loop by directing the right action, at the right time, and verifying it was done.
We see this in the results our customers share with us every day. At Morrisons, Focal helped recover more than £10 million in annualized labor savings, improved on-shelf availability by 2–4%, and reduced food waste by around £1,000 per store per week. Retailers using our TheftSpotter solution have reported catching repeat offenders 70% of the time, with one grocer making more than 20 arrests in just two months.

The Retail Systems Awards are judged by an independent panel of senior retail and technology leaders, including executives from Co-op UK, BearingPoint, Pinterest, and the Retail Trust, alongside independent consultants and investors with deep roots in retail transformation. Winning the confidence of a panel with that breadth of experience, people who understand both the operational realities of running stores and the technology required to change them, makes this recognition especially meaningful to us.
